Ever wondered if dogs feel grief?
Bereavement is a complicated subject, which all of us will likely experience in our lives. However, it’s not just humans who feel the impact of losing a loved one.
Making its online premiere on International Women’s Day (8 March 2018) ‘Set Adrift’ is a moving picture from award-winning writer/director Jennifer Sheridan.
Leading the cast is Bowie the Border Terrier as Patch, a canine actor whose debut short film ‘Rocket’ won the Virgin Media Shorts competition in 2012. It went on to play in front of feature films at Picture House Cinemas for a year!
Now nine years old (and soon to retire from acting), Bowie’s powerful performance allows us to explore grief from a dog’s perspective.
Since making its debut on the international film festival circuit, the film has received universal praise from critics. It’s been nominated for the D&AD Next Director Award, Best Drama at The Smalls and also played at Cannes Lions with The Voice of A Woman Festival; in association with She Says. Bowie himself, was honoured with a Best Male Actor award at the Emden International Film Festival, Germany.
